After dropping two games to start the July 4th weekend the Threshers came out on top on Sunday afternoon against the FLying Tigers. It was a scorcher at the balloark with the FLorida sun beating down. Temperatures reached 95 during the game and were well into triple digits on the field as the Threshers offense was hot in the game. The team jumped out to an early 8-0 lead before the Flying Tigers were able to whittle thing down to 10-6 in the end. Lakeland managed to bring the tying run to the plate with bases loaded in the ninth inning, but Threshers reliever Santo Hernandez escaped the jam and closed the game out to secure another Threshers win. The team is still in first place, and has two more at home before starting a six game road trip to face their new East Coast rivals the Brevard COunty Manatees and Daytona Cubs. Steve Susdorf picked up the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award this afternoon going 3-5 with 3 RBIs just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
