The Clearwater Threshers took the series opener from the Daytona Cubs on Saturday night, and now face the team on Sunday and Monday to conclude the series before a day off for the MLB All-Star game on Tueasday, and then returning to Clearwater for a six-game homestand beginning Wednesday. The Cubbies got on top of the Threshers early with a run in the first inning, but after the Threshers battled back to take a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning Daytona never could get back in the game. While the Threshers offense was solid, three errors from the Daytona defense did not help the home team's cause. Two of the Threshers' first three runs were of the unearned variety, and in the end those to runs would be the difference in the game. Mike Durant picked up the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award.
