The Clearwater Threshers were topped by the Jupiter Hammerheads on Friday night with ex-Threshers Brett Harker getting the start for the Marlins Franchise. Harker was taken in the Rule 5 draft this past off season, and has been all over the place for the Marlins spending time at AA, AAA, and now back in the FSL as a starter.

The Threshers really could never get anything going offensively in the game picking up just four hits, and three errors by the defense did not help the cause.

On what was scheduled to be a Pat Burrell bobblehead giveaway night the Tampa Bay Rays decided to exercise their muscle and enforce a rarely used MLB rule that prohibits one MLB team from promoting within another team's market. They have put the kibosh on all future Threshers bobbleheads forcing the team to cancel the final seven bobbleheads in their World Series set this season.

As a Tampa Bay resident I have always supported the Rays even though I go to the Threshers games. I usually make 5-6 Rays games per year, but that is all I would go to anyway, because those games cost me as much as a whole season of minor league ball. THis whole thing has me fired up!

I mean if they really think that a single A team in Clearwater is hurting their box office receipts, they have got some serious problems. I don't deny they had a right to do what they did, but that doesn't make it right. THis is nothing but sour grapes. The Phillies have been in this market since 1955, and the minor league team since 1985. SHAME ON YOU RAYS!

Unfortunately the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award went unclaimed tonight.
