The Clearwater Threshers came out looking for some revenge on Friday night after having committed five errors on THursday night and losing an ugly game to the Cubs. Unfortunately some bad luck, and some even worse officiating conspired against the team to put another in the loss column for the team.
Mike Cisco got his second start of the year, and looked good in his six innings of work. He scattered five hits and gave up just one run, while fanning six and walking two. Javis Diaz staked him to a 2-0 lead in the second inning by driving in two runs with bases loaded and two outs in the inning. Unluckily that would be the last time a Thresher crossed the plate in the game.
I usually dson't point to officiating as having a major impact on a game, but tonight's crew made so many glaring errors that it is impossible not to blame them for at least some of the reason the Threshers wound up on the losing end of the game. I could go on and name several instances of ineptitude, but will let it be sufficient to say the umpires sucked tonight!
In fairness to the umpires, the Threshers lack of offense did nothing to help their own cause, but...
Michael Cisco picked up the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award for his pitching effort.
