Carlos Monasterios took the hill for the Threshers on Wednesday for his second start of the year. In his first outing he had thrown a complete game shut out with just one run of offensive support, but thanks to his spectacular pitching effort that one run by the team proved to be enough for the win.
Unfortunately for Clearwater Monasterios could not match his previous effort, but the offense could. Once again the team would earn just one run in a Monasterios start witing until the 8th inning to get anything going, and with a 6-0 deficit that would be too little too late.
The good news to come out of the game was that Michael Durant had his second consecutive multi-hit game after struggling with just one hit on the season prior to that. Hopefully this is the start of a big season for Durant. Also, Matt Rizzotti picked up his 10th RBI of the year in the game; a team high and in the top ten of all FSL hitters.
Matt Rizzotti earned the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award for his timely hit and RBI to break up the shut out.
