SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-DAY

The Clearwater Threshers got a terrific pitching effort from Andy Cruse on Wednesday night, and some terrific hitting from Michael Taylor to down the Flying Tigers 6-4 with a dramatic ninth inning rally.

The team scored first with a run in the fourth inning when Michael Taylor scored on a Kevin Mahar single, but the Flying Tigers tied the game in their half of the inning to tie the game at 1-1. In the sixth inning the Threshers would again go on top as they picked up three runs to take a 4-1 advantage.

The 4-1 lead would hold until the eighth inning when the Flying Tigers rallied for three runs off of Matt Smith to tie the game at 4 runs each. Fortunately the Threshers offense had some gas left in their tank.

After two quick outs Jesus Villegas singled, and then scored the game winner when Michael Taylor picked up his third double of the game. Taylor would score on John Urick single to add an insurance run to make the game 6-4 and Matt German shut the Lakeland club down in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory.

DON'T FORGET TO VISIT THE AWARDS PAGE AND GET IN YOUR NOMINATIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S AWARDS. We love our boys despite the team's record. They play their hearts out every night, and the minors is not about the record. It is about working hard and learning new things. Help recognize this team for the jobs they have done well this season.
