BOX SCORE

SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-DAY

The Clearwater Threshers picked up another win at Sarasota on Wednesday night downing the Reds 8-3. The team trailed early, but had a break our inning in the sixth earning five runs in the inning, and they would never look back. The team tacked on some insurance runs in the eighth and ninth innings, but the six they already had on the board proved to be more than enough.

Six Threshers hitters had multi-hit nights with Michael Taylor crushing his 9th home run, and his second in two nights against Sarasota. Taylor picked up a double on the night as well. Joe Savery picked up his ninth win of the year to bring his record to 9-10 on the year.

I'll plan on making one last roadtrip to Lakeland next Saturday for a final farewell to the 2008 squad.

Thank you again to everyone who helped support this website for another year. It is always so much fun getting to know the friends and family of the players each season. It is mostly so sad to know that another year has drawn to a close for the Clearwater faithful.

Only 164 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training 2009.

Brian Schlitter "Really Likes" New Threshers Stadium in Daytona

"He's a little confused" says new manager Jody Davis

Brian Schlitter told a reporter for the Clearwater Threshers News today that he "really likes" the new stadium in Daytona.

A somewhat confused Schlitter was apparently unaware that he had actuallybeen traded to the Daytona Cubs several weeks ago. Brian went on to say "the new uniforms and logo are very cool too. That cute little bear seems a lot nicer than the shark we used to have." He also said that while he wasn't quite sure why the rest of the guys didn't make the move with the team from Clearwater that these new guys seemed alright, and the team was playing "a whole lot better."

He also had kudos for his new manager Jody Davis who he said was "a lot nicer than that mean old guy" who used to coach the team in Clearwater. Manager Davis said later that though Brian seemed a bit confused about the new situation that he was pitching so good no one had the heart to really try to explain what was going on. "I know he started a beer company a few months ago and maybe he is sampling a bit to much of his own product" Jody Davis said. "As long as he keeps pitching the way he is we can look the other way."

The fans have spoken, and votes have been tabulated.

The winners have been chosen.

Congratulations to this year's winners on jobs well done. Awards will be in players lockers after the Sunday game.
