SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-DAY

The Clearwater Threshers started the final roadtrip of the year with a win at Sarasota on Tuesday night. Darren Byrd took the hill for the team and had another terrific outing. Darren gave up just one extra base hit, a double in the first inning that later resulted in a run, but scattered just seven total hits over his seven innings of work.

The offense meanwhile was terrific getting 13 hits with every player in the lineup picking up at least one hit. Fidel Hernandez, Michael Taylor Brian Finegan and Orlando Guevara each had two hits.

Michael Taylor crushed a home run, Brian Finegan had a double and a run, and Orlando Guevara picked up RBIs on each of his hits.

I'll plan on making one last roadtrip to Lakeland next Saturday for a final farewell to the 2008 squad.

Thank you again to everyone who helped support this website for another year. It is always so much fun getting to know the friends and family of the players each season. It is mostly so sad to know that another year has drawn to a close for the Clearwater faithful.

Only 165 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training 2009.
