The Clearwater Threshers had 2007 ace Andrew Carpenter on the mound on Wednesday night for perhaps his last start as a Threshers this season with Carpenter looking for one more quality start to get him back to AA Reading where he started the season before hitting the DL and rehabbing in Clearwater. Through his first three starts Andrew had an ERA of just 1.27 so it looked good going into the game.
Carpenter made it through four innings giving up just one run on two hits, but went into the dugout trailing 1-0 after 3 1/2 innings in the game. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Threshers offense finally got something going, and they got it going in a big way. The team picked up five runs and left a runner on third with one out before the game was supended due to rain.
The game will be resumed starting at 6:00 pm in Thursday with the regularly scheduled game being a seven-inning affair immediately following the completion of Thursday night's game.
