Yes!!! The Clearwater Threshers made tonight a rally for the permanent memory by coming back from down 7-4 in the ninth inning to tie the game, and then claimed victory in the bottom of the twelfth inning. Being a Monday night not many fans stuck around for the end, but those of us who did got our money's worth.
The Clearwater Threshers were hedl hitless through four innings, and fell behind 1-0 in the second inning. In the fifth inning the team bats came alive, and from that point on got a steady diet of hits and runs through the rst of the game. The team picked up three runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead, and would never look back.
From the fifth inning on the team scored at least two runs every inning the rest of the game, on an incredibly steady pace. Though they never exploded for a big inning, in the end they would hand the Yankees a crushing 12-5 defeat to go along with the late innings rally that the Threshers had served the Yankees on Monday night.
Matt Spencer got the team started in the fifth inning that would become the team's first run of the game. Tuffy Gosewsich would send Spencer across the plate with a sac fly to tie the game at 1-1, and the flood gate were open at that point leading to a 12-5 Threshers win in the end.
Quintin Berry, John Urick, and Matt Spencer each had two hits in the game, with with Urick, Berry, Tuffy Gosewisch and Fidel Hernandez each picking up two RBIs on the night. Gus Milner led the way in runs by scoring three times on the night on a hit, a walk and a ROE with John Urick, Jay Miller, Matt Spencer, and Fidel Hernandez each scoring twice in the game.
Andrew Cruse had his second consectutive solid starting effort of the year going 5.0 innings on the hill giving up just one run on four hits, fanning two and walking one. Matt German and Bear Hill combined from the bullpen for the final four frames to get the Threshers out of the game with their second consecutive win.
the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award went to Andrew Cruse for the night, but afor the second consectutive night it was a solid effort from the entire squad that allowed the team to get this win.
