After going winless in his first six trips to the mound Tyson Brummett picked up his second consecutive win in his longest and most successful outing as a Thresher on Thursday. The Threshers gave him an early lead when Gus Milner crushed a solo home run in the first inning to put the team up 1-0 in a hurry.
The Cardinals picked up a run in the second and a run in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead, but that was all the run production they would get as Tyson Brummett clamped down and shut them out for the next five innings. Tyson would give up just three hits from the fourth through eighth inning while the Thresers offense came alive to get a big sixth inning to take a 6-2 lead that they would never relinquish.
after one out Quintin Berry, Gus Milner and Adrian Cardenas all singled with Cardenas picking up the tying RBI to put the game at 2-2. Clay Harris then walked and Matthew Spencer picked up the game winning RBI without swinging his bat when he walked with bases loaded to acore Gus Milner from third. John Urick grounded out but scored Cardenas from third and advance the other two to second and third in the process to up the score to 4-2 and then Jake Blalock singled scoring Harris and Spencer for the fourth and fifth runs of the inning giving the Threshers a 6-2 lead that would prove to be the final score.
After Brummett took things through the eighth, Brian Schlitter threw a perfect ninth setting down all three players he faced on strikes to thwart any hope the Cardinals had of mounting a late rally.
The SCHMIDT LIST award went to Tyson Brummett for his outstanding pitching effort.
