Jimmy Rollins got a rehab start with the Threshers on Wednesday night scoring twice in the game as the Threshers took advantage of three unearned runs on no hits in the first inning from the Hammerhead defense. Rollins led off the game to reach on an error, and would later score in the inning.
Threshers starter Dan Brauer had his longest outing of the year in his third start, and looked okay holding the Hammerheads scoreless through three innings. Unfortunately he was tagged for three runs in the fourth as the Jupiter squad tied the game at 3-3 on two singles and a triple to end his night.
Andy Cruse came on in relief downing Jupiter in order in the fifth inning, while the Threshers picked up three more runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 6-3. Andy again sent the Hammerheads down in order in the sixth, but ran into trouble in the seventh. Jupiter picked up two runs with one out and the tying run at third before Brian Schlitter was summoned from the bullpen to end the rally.
Brian Schlitter got the Threshers out of the seventh inning and took the team onto victory by finishing the final 2.2 innings for his longest relief effort of the year.
For his effort to secure the win Brian Schlitter picked up the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award..
