Threshers Face Reds on Saturday

Adrian Cardenas put the Threshers up early when he crushed a home run as the second batter of the game. Unfortuately the Reds fought back hard getting a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, and another run in the second to take the lead. Meanwhile the Threshers were held hitless in the second and third innings with the Reds adding three more runs in the bottom of the third to go up 5-1 on a three-run homer of their own.
In the fourth inning the Threshers took advantage of a lead off walk from Chris Snelling, an single by Gus Milner, and a walk from John Urick to load the bases, and then a hit-by-pitch from Jay Miller to get a free run that cut the lead to 5-2.
In the fifth inning Fidel Hernandez led off with a single, and then moved to third on an Adrian Cardenas hit. Gus Milner would reach on an error, and the Threshers took advantage with Fidel scoring from third to cut into the Reds lead to make it 5-3 before the inning was over.
The Threshers would stay behind 5-3 in the game as the bullpen work of Bear Hill and Matt German kept the Threshers alive going into their final at-bat in the top of the ninth looking for at least two runs to prolong the game and hopefully a third run to end things in regulation.
Unfortunately the Threshers could not mount a rally and fell in the end.
The Florida State League All-Stars were announced on Friday with Edgar Garcia, Matt German, and Gus Milner getting the nod to represent the Clearwater Threshers in the game at Brevard County this upcoming Father's Day weekend on June 14th.
