After dropping the season opener on Thursday night, the Threshers came to the park on Friday looking to get one in the win column. It did not take long for the team to get going as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
They say a lead off walk always scores, and that proved to be the cas for the Threshers. Quintin Berry lead off the bottom of the first with a walk, then stole second base and moved to third with Tuffy Gosewisch out at first. Adrian Cardenas then picked up and RBI to score Quintin from third giving the team their first lead of the young season.
In the third inning Dunedin tied the game with a home run, but in the bottom of the frame the Threshers tacked on three more runs with hits from Tuffy Gosewisch, and Adrian Ccardenas, and a walk from Gus Milner to load the bases with two outs. John Urick and Welinson Baez each picked up RBI singles to plate three more runs to give the team a 4-1 lead that they would never relinquish.
Dunedin would get another home run off of starter Carlos Monasterio in the seventh to cut the lead to 4-2, but overall Monasterio had a good outing going 6.1 innings with 2 runs on 6 hits, 4 Ks and only one walk.
Brett Harker came in from the bullpen giving up only 1 hit in his 1.2 inning with a 2 Ks and no walks to get the team through the seventh and eighth innings.
In the ninth things got dicey for closer Brian Schlitter in his first outing of the year as Dunedin loaded the bases on two singles and a walk, but Schlitter was able to get himself out of the jam and secure the win for his team.
