Thresher Fall to Miracle Miracle now 7-0 v Threshers in 2008 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E Threshers 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 2 9 1 Miracle 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 4 10 1 Joe Savery took the hill for the Threshers on Wednesday night as the team looked for their first win of the year against the Ft. Myers Miracle who have owned them this year with a 6-0 record against the Threshers so far. Unfortunately the Miracle jumped out early lead taking the score to 4-0 after just one inning of play. Savery got things under control through the next three innings, but the Threshers' offense could not get a run across and it was into the sixth still 4-0 Miracle. Jake Blalock would put an end to the Threshers scoreless streak crushing a home run with Matt Spencer on base to cut the lead to 4-2 after six with the Threshers bringing in reliever Nate Johnson from the bullpen in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nate Johnson surrendered a lead off bunt-single to the Miracle, but then struck out the next batter, and picked off the lead off hitter at first with a pick off move to get two quick outs, and struck out his second batter of the inning next to take things to the seventh. In the seventh inning Nate Johnson took things to the eighth after one hit and two Ks with the Threshers' offense looking to get back into the game. Andy Cruse got the team out of the eighth inning and into the ninth looking for a come from behind win with the bottom of the lineup at bat for the Threshers in the ninth. Unfortunately the Threshers went down in order in the ninth and fell 4-2 in the end. Jake Blalock picked up the SCHMIDT LIST playor of the game award with his 2-run home run. PLAYER Pos. It was only fitting that the first winner would be Chester Hasbrouk of Palm Harbor, FL. Chester was known as the "Godfather of Baseball" at the old Jack Russell stadium and was an 18 year season ticket holder before his health forced him to give up his season tickets when the team moved to the new stadium. Chester made his first trip to the new park earlier this season and registered to win then. I was lucky enough to get to say hello to Chester when he was at the game and to have my picture taken with "the Godfater" and show him my respect when he was at the park.
