The Clearwater Threshers lackluster hitting continued on Sunday afternoon as the team was shutout by the Tampa Yankees. The team could manage just four hits on the afternoon with two of them coming from PJ Antoniato.

On the year the pitching staff has given up the third fewest runs of any pitching staff in the league, unfortunately the offense is dead last in almost every category. The team has scored just 47 runs on the year 11 runs fewer than the next lowest team, and 40 runs less than the league leading Brevard County Manatees.

Today's game was just another example of what has been happening to the team all year. Darren Byrd had his best outing of the year so far, and though it was not spectacular he gave up just two runs in six innings of work, but got absolutely no support from his offense. Let's hope that the team's bats start to catch fire here soon or it will be a long year at the park for the players, and the fans alike.

PJ Antoniato grabs his second consecutive SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award for being the only player with more than one hit in today's game.
