Clearwater Threshers Down First Place Bluejays

The Clearwater Threshers returned home on Friday night looking for a win after being swept by the Fort Myers Miracle in their road series. Unfortunately they would be facing the first place Dunedin Bluejays in the effort.

The Jays jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a 2-run homer off of Threshers starter Edgar Garcia and things looked dim right away. The Jays would add two more runs in the fourth inning to go up 4-0 and with the Threshers lack of offense this season the team's fate seemed all but secured to suffer another loss.

Fortunately the Threshers had other things in mind as they rallied to get back on top. Matt Spencer led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run to cut the lead to 4-1. Then after an out by Gus Milner, John Urick doubled on a fly ball to center field and P. J. Antoniato singled on a line drive to center field moving John Urick to 3rd. Tuffy Gosewisch then reached on a throwing error that scored John Urick and advanced PJ Antoniato to second to cut the deficit to 4-2. After a strikeout by Welinson Baez to record the second out of the inning, Fidel Hernandez singled on a line drive to center field to allow P. J. Antoniato to score and send Tuffy Gosewisch to 3rd. Quintin Berry then singled on a line drive to center field scoring Tuffy Gosewisch and Fidel Hernandez before the inning would end with the team now on top 5-4

In the bottom of the sixth inning Matt Spencer would again crush a home run to put the team up 6-4, but the Bluejays would battle back to move within 6-5 in the very next inning. Reliever Sam Walls no-hit the Bluejays the rest of the way to secure the Threshers' first come-from-behind victory of the season.
