Clearwater Threshers Face Ft Myers Miracle Again on Wednesday Night

The Clearwater Threshers fell to the Miracle on Tuesday with the Miracle rallying from down 5-3 to win the game 8-5. On Wednesday night the team would look for some redemption having lost the first four games of the year against the Miracle. Unfortunately the Miracle got off to a quick start jumping out getting a run in the first thanks to a lead off triple, and then they picked up three more via the long ball in the second to grab a 4-0 lead.

I had just written in my weekly Threshers recap that Monasterios had lived and died by the long ball. Prior to tonight all four runs he had surrendered on the year were via home run, and tonight three of four would come by that same route with the other coming off a lead off triple in the first.

The Threshers got a lead off triple of their own in the sixth inning and finally plated a run as John Urick knocked in Gus Milner who had tripled to avoid a shut out.

After six innings by Monasterios Matt German was summoned from the bullpen in the seventh. German would throw just one inning keeping his ERA at a perfect 0.00 on the year, and fanning two in the process. Brian Schlitter came on in the eighth in relief and picked up two Ks of his own to take the game to the final frame with the Clearwater Threshers trailing 4-1. Unfortunately the Threshers could get nothing going in their final at bat and the team fell for the fifth consecutive time to the Miracle. Unfortunately the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award went unclaimed for the second time this season as the Threshers managed just five hits on the night in the loss.
