Clearwater Threshers Get Another Shut Out
Joe Savery Throws Eight Solid Innings

The Clearwater Threshers picked up their fourth win and recorded their second shutout of the year behind eight strong innings of pitching fromstarter Joe Savery. Savery allowed just five hits with four Ks and one walk over that period.
The Clearwater offense got a spark early when Carlos Leon led off the game with a single, reached seond on a passed ball, and then moved to third on a single from Tuffy Gosewisch. Carlos would then score with the RBI going to Gus Milner who was out on the play at first, but after one inning the Threshers had a 1-0 lead.
In the second the Threshers added another run when John Urick led off with a single and advanced to second on a single from Welinson Baez. Jay Miller then layed down a perfect sac bunt to advance the runners to second and third. Carlos Leon then picked up an RBI to score Urick from third to give the Threshers a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.
The score would remain 2-0 until the seventh when the Clearwater Threshers added three more to the board. Welinson Baez led off with a single, followed by a double from Jay Miller. Carlos Leon the picked up two more RBIs on a single that scored Baez and Miller, and then Leon scored after moving to second on a single from Tuffy Gosewisch, and then home on an RBI single from Adrian Cardenas.
Joe Savery completed his final inning in the eighth, and Nate Johnson came on to complete the final fram and give the Clearwater Threshers their fourth win and second shutout of the season.
Carlos Leon picked up the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award for his efforts that included scoring twice and driving in three, plus he added a terrific defensive effort as well. Welinson Baez had a breakout game going 3-4 at the plate with a double, and a run scored, and Jay Miller made the most of just his second start by going 1-2 with a sac bunt, a double, a walk, and a run scored.
