Clearwater Threshers Get Shut Out for the First Time This Season

Carlos Moasterio took the hill for the Threshers on Thursday looking to become the first Threshers pitcher to get two wins on the year. With wins hard to come by for the team it would be a tough task, but Monasterio was up to the challenge. Monasterio was perfect through the first three innings sending the Ft. Myers miracle down in order each time one eight ground balls and one shallow pop fly.

In the fourth inning Carlos would walk one and give up a hit, but still kept the Threshers in the game waiting on the offense to pick him up. Unfortunately the game was a pitcher's dual with the Threshers being held scoreless as well.

As the game progressed the pressure mounted on both the offense and starter Carlos Monasterio. Monasterio kept up his end of the bargain taking the game into the seventh holding the opposition still at one hit and one walk. In the seventh Monasterio would give up his second walk, but catcher Tuffy Gosewisch would tag the runner out at second attempting to steal. Unfortunately another batter reached base via a walk, only to see the second hit of the game for the Miracle be a home run to give them a 2-0 lead.

The Clearwater Threshers offense could never get on track, and the team would fall with 2-0 as the final score.

Despite getting the loss for the game, Carlos Monasterio gets the the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award. I am sure that a losing pitcher has never gotten the award before, but if one ever deserved it, it was Carlos Monasterio in tonight's game!
