The Treshers sent five players to Daytona this weekend to compete in the all-star game including: Andrew Carpenter, Carlos Carrasco, Greg Golson, Lou Marson, and Jeremy Slayden. Though the Western Division All-Stars fell to the Eastern Division 8-4 in the game, the Threshers' players all performed well in the game.
Andrew Carpenter got the start for the Western team and pitched one inning, giving up no hits with one strike out and no walks. Carlos Carrasco pitched the seventh inning for the team giving up no runs on no hits with a walk.
Greg Golson got the starting job in left field. He went 0-2 at the plate, but reached on an error, stole a base and scored a run. Jeremy Slayden was the starting DH for the team; he went 0-3 at the plate with a walk, and scored a run. Lou Marson caught three innings and went 0-2 at the plate.
On the night prior to the game various players participated in a skills competition with the final event being the home run derby. Jeremy Slayden barely escaped the first round getting into the second with just two home runs since only one other western division participant got more than one home run in the first round. In the second round he came alive crushing eight home runs to advance to the finals, then easily earned the victory as the Eastern team's Mark Hamilton of the Palm Beach Cardinals could only get two in the final round while Slayden managed five more in the finals.
I (my wife) got hundreds of pictures over the weekend. I've added some to the "Photo Gallery" link above, or click here to see them. I have many more than you see here, so if you want a picture or pictures of a certain player, send me an email using the link on the top navigation bar.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
