After dropping their only home game in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday the Threshers were forced into the unenviable situation of trying to pick up two road wins to secure a place in the FSL Finals.
After a rainout on Wednesday the team returned to Sarasota on Thursday looking to get things done.
Sarasota was first to strike by picking up a run in the second inning to go up 1-0, but you could just feel that there was something in the air waiting to happen for the Threshers.
In the fourth inning the Threshers made things happen when Jeremy Slayden lead off the inning with a walk. Lou Marson followed with a double moving Slayden to third. Jake Blalock then picked up an RBI as he plated Jeremy Slayden and moved Lou Marson to third. John Urick then singled to score Lou Marson and give the Threshers their first lead in this divisional series before the inning would end.
In the sixth inning it would again begin with a Jeremy Slayden walk followed by a Lou Marson double, this time good for an RBI as Slayden trucked to home forcing an errant throw to give the team a 3-1 lead. The inning ended with the team up 3-1 and it was onto the bottom of the sixth.
The Reds tried to pick up some momentum as they managed a run in the bottom of the sixth to narrow the gap to 3-2, but when Will Savage came on in relief in the seventh it was over for the Reds rally.
Will Savage picked up five Ks over the final three frames while allowing no hits and walking none to give the Threshers an 3-2 win and even the series at one win each.
The Threshers will now return to Sarasota on Friday night looking to get a victory and move into the finals of the FSL Playoffs.
Come on people and GET READY for a Threshers move to the Championship round!
