In the final game of the set (and of the season) between the Rays and the Threshers the Clearwater team dominated the Rays downing them 12-5. On the night the entire Western division swept the Eastern division winning all six inter-divisional games by a combined score of 58-31 for the Western teams. As a result the Threshers were unable to gain any ground in the standings but still stand just 3.5 games back.
Threshers starter Zac Stott was solid for the team going seven scoreless innings before giving up four in the eighth, but still held an four-run advantage when relieved. RJ Swindle went the final 1.2 innings holding Vero Beach to just one more run with the Threshers picking up for more in the ninth to give the team twelve runs on the night.
For the offense Jake Blalock was the man going 3-5 with two home runs, a double, 3 RBIS and 3 runs. Jason Donald also picked up three hits on the night, and Brian Burgamy, Brad Harman, Jeremy Slayden and PJ Antoniato each picked up two hits each.
The team returns home to face the Daytona Cubs on Thursday night for the first of four games. The Cubs are 5th (of 6) in the Eastern division and have lost their last five in a row and are just 2-8 in their last ten games.
Let's hope the Threshers can keep the Cubs down and pick up a few games against the Yankees and Bluejays over the next few nights.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
