New...just added the 99¢ Thrift Store Trophy Award. I don't know what the award will be for, so give me your suggestions along with your nominations.

Thresher Hit the Road for Four Games

After dropping three games in a row to the Yankees the Threshers headed south on Sunday to Vero Beach to face the Devil Rays in a four game set. The Rays are struggling with only ten wins in the second half of the year, and the Threshers were looking to keep it that way as they went for a much needed win on Sunday night.

The team came out of the box on fire pounding the Rays starter for seven runs in the first two innings capped by a three run homer from Jake Blalock that got the Rays' pitcher pulled after just 1.2 innings of work. Meanwhile Threshers' starter Andrew Cruse came out looking good in just his second start since being promoted from Lakewood. Cruse held the Rays scoreless until the fourth when he surrendered a home run, but the Threshers still lead 8-2 at the time so it was no sweat.

The Threshers would tack on four more runs in the eighth inning on a three run blast from Lou Marson, and an RBI double from Jason Donald. (Weird stat of the day: Jason Donald was 2-2 at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 2 walks; so much for the "terrible twos.")

The Rays would pick up two final runs off of starter Andrew Cruse in the bottom of the eighth before he was lifted for reliever Luis Villarreal, but Villarreal closed down the Rays and the Threshers cruised to an easy 12-4 win.

Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
