Going into Friday night the Clearwater Threshers held thier 2007 fate in their hands. Two wins against the last-place Lakeland Tigers and they could coast into the playoffs. Unfortunately that was not how the evening would play out.
In the first game the boys got down early but battled back from behind twice only to lose in extra innings in the first game. The team had more than one opportunity to win the game outright, but just could not capitalize.
After a Dunedin loss and a Tampa loss the team was in a three-way tie going into their second game of the night. Tampa went on to win their second game of the night forcing the Threshers into a "must-win" situation in their second game.
Lakeland meanwhile was looking to play the spoiler as they got up on the Threshers with a run in the first, and after the Threshers tied it in the second the Tigers pulled ahead again in the sixth with two more runs.
Finally it would go to the last inning of the game with the Threshers trailing by two before the team would make a move. After one out Hector Made walked to ggive the Threshers a glimmer of hope. Brian Burgamy then homered to tie the game at 3-3 only to be followed by a walk-off home run by Brad Harman to seal first place for the team going into the final two days of the season.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
