Well the Threshers finally got to play ball on Friday night after having the last three nights rained out, but considering the result maybe the team should have prayed for rain. The Yankees grabbed both halves of the double header and started the night with a grand slam in the first inning of the first game and rode the momentum of that through game one and on into game two.
Alex Concepcion took the hill in game one and needless to say did not have his best outing of the year. The Yankees grabbed four in the first on a grand slam and added two in the second, then added an insurance run in the fifth to cap a 7-4 win.
In the second game of the night Zac Stott took the hill for the Threshers. Stott had a good outing giving up just one earned run, but two unearned runs in the second inning would prove the difference. Jason Donald had an error on a play to short stop, but was injured on the play and though he plyed out the inning was removed from the game with a hand injury.
The Threshers tied the game in the sixth picking up two runs on RBI doubles from Jeremy Slayden and Clay Harris, but the Yankees went back on top in the bottom of the inning and in the final frame the Threshers were unable to rally.
With the two wins, the Yankees jumped into first place as Dunedin dropped both halves of their double header and the Threshers fell to 3.5 games back in the standings.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
