The Clearwater Threshers picked up their most important win of the year on Tursday night as they rallied from behind to defeat the Dunedin Bluejays and moved into a tie with the Jays for first place in the division. The team will now close out the remaining three days of the season with five games against the last-place Lakeland Flying Tigers. As long as the team can take care of business over the final three days they should make it into the FSL playoffs.
The win on Thursday was sparked by a home run show that began in the sixth inning. Trailing 3-1 Jeremy Slayden knocked a solo shot to cut the lead to 3-2. Lou Marson then singled and Jake Blalock crushed what would prove to be the game-winning jack over the left field wall into the stands at the tiki bar.
In the seventh inning Brian BUrgamy hit a towering shot over the right field wall for an insurance run that put the Threshers up 5-3, and then in the eighth inning Clay Harris hit a two-run blast to seal the victory at 7-3.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
