As I said going into tonight Clearwater was about to begin their six most important games of the year. With the second half of the season coming to a close and the team right in the midst of a playoff race they face their two biggest competitors Tampa and Dunedin.
They began with three against Tampa starting tonight. Unfortunately Tampa bested the Threshers in a back and forth battle that turned out the Yankees way. Dunedin won on the night and the Threshers fell to 3 games back while Tampa edged closer at 3.5 games back.
Clearwater has one more game against Tampa on Tuesday which has now become a must win game since the team will face Dunedin for three games, including a double header on Thursday night following Tuesday night's game. Sitting three games behind Dunedin, Clearwater needs a strong showing in these next five games to have a shot at a playoff run.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
