Through five innings in this afternoon's game the Daytona Cubs held the Threshers hitless, yet still trailed 1-0 in the game thanks to two walks and a error in the fourth inning that allowed a run to score on a fielder's choice.
In the sixth inning the Threshers fianlly managed to break the hitless game open capitalizing on a two-out error by the Cubs to extend the inning and grabbing five runs before the inning was over.
That would be pretty much all that the Threshers offense could do the rest of the game, but with a 6-0 lead the bullpen held their own holding the Cubs to just two runs in the final innings as the Threshers went home winners 6-2 to split the series at two games each.
The Tampa Yankees lost today so the boys pulled to 3.5 game back and have 23 game to make up that deficit including four more against the Yankees. That Yankees series will be crucial, so let's hope the team can keep the winning ways alive long enough to have the series matter.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
