After dropping the first two games of this four game series to the Cubs the Threshers rallied from three down early on Saturday night to post a much needed game in the win column. With the season coming to a close, and trailing in the standings by 4.5 games the Threshers need to get a winning streak going, and since every streak starts with one game, let's hope that this is the start of that streak.
After trailing in the game 3-0 on a two-run home run in the second inning, and a solo home run in the third inning, the Threshers got their first score in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run of their own from John Urick. In the fourth inning the Threshers managed to load the bases with a walk by Jeremy Slayden a single from Lou Marson and a walk by Clay Harris to bring John Urick to the plate for his second at bat. The Threshers then managed to plate two runs without Urick ever swinging his bat when the catcher botched a pick off attempt of Jeremy Slayden at third base. As the ball sailed into left field Slayden scored from third, and Lou Marson raced to the plate from second to tie the game at 3-3 before the inning ended.
In the fourth the team added two more runs by loading the bases on hits from Matt Thayer, BRad Harman and a walk by Jeremy Slayden. Lou Marson then knocked a two-run single scoring Thayer and Harman for what would prove to be the game winning runs.
The Threshers bullpen then set about shutting down the Cubsgiving up just two hits after the fifth inning and the Threshers went home winners.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
