Despite a loss on Friday night to the Cubs, everyone at the park and many people unable to make the game were positively affected by the Threshers in tonight's effort. The team hosted the 2nd annual "Pitch for Pink" fundraiser on Friday to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and treatment. A silent auction was held for autographed jerseys, pink bats, and many other great items to raise money for a terrific cause.
In the game the Threshers got behind early only to take a lead, then mount a late rally but the team fell in the end 10-7 to the Cubs.
After trailing 3-0 Jason Donald crushed a 3-run homer to tie the game in the third and then the team took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning, but that lead would be short-lived.
The Cubs picked up seven more runs to go into the ninth with a 10-5 lead, but the Threshers rallied to pick up two in the ninth but were unable to get the five runs needed to get the game back.
Fortunately both teams ahead of the Threshers also lost on the night, so the team held groung in the standings and still have a legitimate shot at a playoff run. With each game that passes wins become more critical, but somehow I feel that this team will pull together and make the final few weeks of the season very exciting.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
