The Clearwater Threshers played a game and a half against the Lakeland Tigers on Monday night. They resumed a game from earlier in the month down 4-0 in the fifth and though they rallied for 2 runs in their first at-bat of the resumption they eventually fell 7-2 in the game.
In the new game of the night the team won 7-5. The team picked up three runs in the first inning on a home run from Jeremy Slayden after a single from Brian Burgamy and Jayson Werth reaching on an error.
The Tiger would battle back to take a lead by picking up two runs in the third, and two more in the fourth but the offense of the Threshers would strike for four runs in the fifth inning to retake the lead and go on to win 7-5 after Lakeland plated one final run in the sixth.
In the game Andrew Carpenter picked up his 13th win of the year, which is just two wins shy of the all-time Clearwater record of 15 wins in a season. Based on my projections he should have at least six more starts to pick up hopefully three more wins and grab his place in history. Stay tuned and let's cheer him on the rest of the way along with everyone else on the team.
These two teams will face again for another double header on Tuesday before heading back to Clearwater for a game on Wednesday afternoon.
