Threshers Down Reds Behind John Urick Grand Slam

Andrew Cruse got his first start for the Threshers on Saturday night since being promoted from Lakewood earlier in the week. He was very solid in the game giving up just two runs on two hits with six Ks. Both of the hits he allowed came in the second inning with one being of the out of the park variety to give the Reds a 2-0 lead after an inning and a half.

The Threshers offense however would give him plenty of run support as the Threshers won easily going on to win 8-2. The Threshers would get three home runs in the game with the first one coming in the bottom of the second to close the gap to 2-1 after two innings. In the fourth inning the Thresers loaded the bases and tied the game on an error by the Reds catcher, and then with the bases still loaded John Urick stepped up to the plate and crushed a grand slam home run to put the game in the bag for the Threshers.

Brad Harman added a lead-off solo home run in the fifth inning and for good measure got another RBI in the eighth to plate John Suomi on a sac fly.

The team will have the day off tommorow, which is probably for the best since tonight is outfielder Jeremy Slayden's birthday I would guess they may be out celebrating both the birthday and the win tonight.

The Threshers head to Lakeland for two game Monday and Tuesday before returning home to face Lakeland again in an afternoon game.
