The Clearwater Threshers looked terrific tonight on all fronts as starter Josh Outman held the Cardinals scoreless while the Threshers offense put up big numbers. Through 7.2 innings Josh Outman scattered six hits and struck out five while walking just two runners, his reliever Cory Willey closed things out for the final 1.1 innings giving up no runs, no hits an earning one K.
The offense meanwhile piled it on with 13 hits, including a 3-run homer from the newest Thresher Jason Donald in the third inning (he would add a triple in the game as well), and a 3-run homer from Greg Golson in the eighth to seal the deal. Brad Harman who is hitting .571 in the month of June kept his hot bat alive going 4-4 at the plate with a double and a run while six other Threshers chimed in with hits on the night.
The team remains just three games behind the Sarasota Reds in the division with a key three game set against the Reds as the final three games in the first-half playoff run.
The team will now head to Daytona (home of this year's All-Star Game) for four games, before returning home on Sunday to face the Ft. Myers Miracle.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
