Starter Andrew Carpenter threw a terrific game for the Clearwater Threshers going eight innings giving up no runs on just three hits and fanning five while walking just two. Unfortunately the Threshers offense could give him no support as the team picked up one lone hit over the first eight innings of work.

Going into the final frame tied 0-0 it was anyone's ballgame, and the Hammerheads capitalized on a throwing error by catcher Lou "Birthday Boy" Marson as he attempted to pick off a runner at second but threw the ball into center field sending the man to third with no outs. A sac fly later the Hammerheads had a 1-0 lead with the Threshers coming to bat in the bottom of the ninth.

With just one hit to the team's credit through the first eight innings it seemed like sure death for the team, but lead off hitter Clay Harris had something else in mind as he stepped to the plate. Clay crushed a monster shot over the left field wall in the ninth to tie the game at 1-1 and assure extra life. The team could manage no more in the inning so the nail biting began as we went into overtime.

In the tenth, reliever "Bear" Hill set the Hammerheads down 1-2-3 and it was onto the bottom of the inning and time for another shot at redemtion for the Clearwater Threshers.

Brad Harman came up as the lead-off hitter, but grounded out bringing Hector Made to the plate. Hector reached on a single and was followed by Brian Burgamy who reached on an error leaving the Threshers with runners at first and second. Greg Golson then stepped to the plate and quickly got behind in the count, but tapped a single just over the second baseman's head into right field. With Hector Made dashing in from second for the victory he stumbled rounding third but a bobble on the play by the right fielder of Jupiter gave him just enough time to recover and head home to score the winning run as the team rejoiced in their come-from-behind victory to help redeem catcher Lou Marson and let him celebrate his 21st birthday in style.

Trivia question: How far is it from Clearwater to Jupiter? About 93 million miles or 3 hours and 37 minutes according to Mapquest.com
