The Threshers went into the final three-game series of the first half trailing the Sarasota Reds by three games. They needed to sweep the series to tie the Reds for first in the division, and came out ready to rock in this game. Josh Outman got the starting nod and pitched 7.1 innings giving up three runs on four hits with seven strikouts and three walks, but gave up two singles and a walk to load the bases in the eighth after one out to end his night.
Will Savage came on in relief in the eighth but could not shut the Reds down as he gave up two singles and a walk to give the Reds four runs and the lead after eight innings.
The Threshers went down in order in the ninth and officially ended their first-half playoff run.
