With a three game deficit and the first half drawing to a close with just seven games remaining, that may be a deficit too large to overcome, but with one more game against Ft. Myers and three against last-place Dunedin the team should be able to pick up some much needed wins before finishing out with a critical three-game set against the leading Sarasota Reds to end the half.
The Threshers got one of those much needed wins on Monday night and with a Tampa loss moved back into second place, but reamined three behind Sarasota, making that final series look that much more important.
Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco threw his best game of the year tonight getting the first conmplete game for any Threshers pitcher this year. Carrasco went nine innings giving up just three hits while walking no one and striking out seven Miracle batters. The offense gave him plenty of support scoring six runs including a three-RBI home run from John Urick in the fourth inning to get the team out to a lead, and they added three more in the fourth on an RBI single from Greg Golson and a two-RBI double from Jason Donald.
Not baseball related, but I thought I'd include this very cool picture that I took in my front yard on Saturday.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
