Florida State League All-Stars Announced

Threshers Earn Five Roster Spots

The 2007 Florida State League in-season All-Star teams were announced today, and the Clearwater Threshers will send five to Daytona for the game.

Pitchers Carlos Carrasco, Andrew Carpenter, and Pat Overholt earned spots as well as catcher Lou Marson, and OF/DH Jeremy Slayden.

Clearwater Threshers' starter Andrew Carpenter got in some early trouble giving up two home runs in the first inning, but came back nicely giving up just two more hits over the next 5.2 innings of work. The Threshers got back one run in the bottom of the first off of a Nic Jackson RBI single, then got the game winning run on a two-run blast from Greg Golson in the bottome of the third inning.

The team is now 2.5 games out of first place pending the result of the Sarasota Reds game later this evening. With just fifteen games remaining in the first-half playoff run each win becomes critical for the team, as well as each Sarasota loss.
