The Threshers got behind early as the Manatees grabbed two runs in the second inning, and then two more runs in the third to go up 4-0.
The Threshers picked up a run in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Manatees answered with a run in the top of the fifth inning to go up 5-1. In the bottom of the fifth the Threshers got a run to cut the lead back to three runs at 5-3, but that was a close as it would ever get.
The Manatees piled on four runs in the eighth and five more in the ninth to go up 14-2 in the game. The Threshers attempted to rally in the ninth but fell ten runs short of extending the game as they fell 14-4 on the night.
It was the first time this year the team had surrendered ten or more runs, and the first double digit deficit of the year. Fortunately the Sarasota Reds also lost on Tuesday so the team remains in a two-way tie for first place.
