The Threshers grabbed an early 3-0 lead when their first four batters reached base and the first three scored in the first inning. The team remained 3-0 behind a strong pitching effort from starter Pat Overholt until the seventh inning.
After back-to-back doubles Overholt was lifted in favor of reliever Wil Savage in the seventh inning. After a throwing error loaded the bases the Manatees, then socred three runs to tie the game before the seventh inning was over.
In the eighth inning Greg Golson lead off with a single, then stole second finally scoring after Clay Harris got what would prove to be the game winning RBI with a single on a line drive to left field.
After closer Mike Zagurski walked the first batter in the ninth the next hitter grabbed a sac bunt to move the tying run into scoring position. Zagurski then hit the next batter putting runners at first and second, but forced a doulbe play to end the game with the Threshers reigning supreme 4-3 in the end.
