The Clearwater Threshers picked up their third consecutive victory against cross-county rivals the Dunedin Bluejays on Thursday night to remain just three games out of first in the playoff hunt.
Mike Spidale went 3-4 on the night with a single, double and a triple, just a home run short of the cycle. Welinson Baez had the clinching 3-run home run in the eighth to secure the win for the team.
Starter Carlos Carrasco went seven scoreless innings giving just two hits with five Ks in his first start after coming of the DL. Cory Willey pitched one scoreless frame, but Charlie Weatherby was unable to secure the shutout giving up a run on three hits with two Ks in the 9th.
Less than one week remains before we get the Florida State League in-season all-star selections, so you need to get your votes in to win those all-star game tickets and make the big game. Our boys are sure to have a strong contingent and they need your support.
NOTE: I finally got home from Texas about an hour ago. I look forward to getting out to Dunedin tomorrow to see the team and get back to more in depth write-ups now that the vacation is over. Thanks for hanging in there people.
