BREAKING NEWS: Before I get to today's recap...Mike Zagurski who started this year with the Threshers and quickly moved to AA Reading after a great start has been promoted to the Phillies bullpen. He met the team today in Atlanta and will be with the team to replace closer Brett Myers who went down with an injury on Wednesday night.
Now onto today's Threshers game...
The Clearwater Threshers got out on the Hammerheads early when Mike Spidale lead off the game with a single, then scored on a Greg Golson double. In the fourth inning John Urick lead off with a double then after a single from Welinson Baez sent him to third he scored on a Brad Harman single to help the team take a 2-0 lead.
Jupiter tied the game with two runs off reliever Nate Johnson in the seventh, but the Threshers re-took the lead 4-2 in the eighth. Unfortunately that lead was short lived as the Hammerheads tied again at 4-4 with two more runs off of Johnson in the bottom of the eighth.
The game would remain 4-4 until the eleventh inning when the Threshers capitalized on three walks to score what would prove the winning run as the ended the game 5-4 thanks to a solid eleventh inning save from Brett Harker. Things were momentarily dicey as Harker gave up a one out double, but he then got two strike outs to avoid the threat and get the save.
NOTE: I will be in Texas until the 30th of May. I will make every effort to keep as much of the site as up-to-date as possible, but game recaps will most likely be very minimal while I am gone. I thank those of you who visit this site regularly, and look forward to getting back on track once I return to Florida.
