The Clearwater Threshers offense stayed hot on Wednesday night as the boys scored five runs in the second inning and added four more in the fourth to lead 9-3 after four innings. Unfortunately pitching woes that haunted the team during their recent six game skid returned as the Mets pounded the bullpen taking a 12-9 lead after seven innings. In the end that score would hold up as the Threshers fell.
After finishing the month of April with the Thresher's best record ever at 16-8 the team was in first place by one game and local fans had something to cheer about for the first time in Threshers' history. Unfortunately the team has suffered a reversal of fortune here in May. Their May record is just 10-12 dropping their overall record to 26-20. The team is now in second place six games out of first place.
With the structure of the Florida State league being the first-half winner facing the second-half winner in the playoffs, the prssure is suddenly on for the team to get things turned around if they have any sort of first-half playoff ambitions. With only 24 games remaining in the first-half, and the Reds looking invincible, the team may have already dug themselves into a hole too deep to get out of.
Completely off topic, but this is HILARIOUS. A cop in Michigan overdosed by eating brownies his wife baked with marijuana in them. He freaked out and called 911. He is no longer a cop, but also was never charged with any crime.
NOTE: I will be in Texas until the 30th of May. I will make every effort to keep as much of the site as up-to-date as possible, but game recaps will most likely be very minimal while I am gone. I thank those of you who visit this site regularly, and look forward to getting back on track once I return to Florida.
