Like Monday the Threshers went up early on the Mets and looked to get a winning streak going. The team picked up two runs in the third inning on a Greg Golson RBI double, then Golson scored after stealing third and went home on a Lou Marson single.
Pete Shier picked up his second 2 RBI home run in two days sending the Threshers lead to 4-0 in the sixth, but the Mets cut the lead to 4-2 with two runs of their own in the seventh inning.
Andrew Carpenter threw six strong innings, but ran into trouble in the seventh before being relieved by Nate Johnson. Johnson kept the Mets scoreless though eight, and Brett Harker picked up his second consecutive save closing out a scoreless ninth.
I had a rough time picking a player-of-the-game as Greg Golson had a great night going 3-5; Andrew Carpenter was terrific through six, and the bullpen did their job, but the nod had to go to Pete Shier for having his second night in a row with a 2 RBI home run.
NOTE: I will be in Texas until the 30th of May. I will make every effort to keep as much of the site as up-to-date as possible, but game recaps will most likely be very minimal for the next ten days or so. I thank those of you who visit this site regularly, and look forward to getting back on track once I return to Florida.
