Threshers Finish Roadtrip Winning Five of Six

Team Outscored Lakeland 26-5 in Three Game Series

The Threshers ended their six game road trip on Saturday night with a 7-1 Win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. In the three games versus the Tigers the team played solidly with the offense catching fire and the pitching staying strong. The team outscored Lakeland 26-5 in the series giving up just one run each of the last two nights.

Starter Josh Outman was solid once again giving up only one run on a solo home run in the fourth scattering six hits over six innings of work. In relief Wil Savage kept his ERA perfect at 0.00 in two innings of work and Brett Harker closed out the ninth with no runs on no hits.

For the offense Greg Golson went 3-4 at the plate to regain the lead on the team in BA with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Jeremy Slayden was the early hero knocking his 4th homer of the year for three RBIs and an early lead for the team. That would prove all the team would need, but they added four more insurance runs in the eighth inning on a two-RBI double from Greg Golson, and a two-RBI single from Clay Harris.

Overall the team was 5-1 in the roadtrip, and the team now stands just one game behind the Sarasota Reds as the battle for first place rages on. The team will return home on Sunday for a three game set with the Ft. Myers Miracle before heading to Sarasota for an important three game set Wednesday through Friday.
