On Thursday night the Threshers faced the division-leading Reds for the first time this year. Unfortunately it was the Reds who got on the board first, and managed to hold the lead throughout the game.
Dan Brauer got the start for the Threshers bringing in an impressive 0.82 ERA, but suffered his first loss of the year. Sarasota, the highest scoring offense in the division grabbed three runs of of Bauer on two home runs, while the Sarasota pitching staff who owns the best record in the league held the Threshers offense silent until the sixth inning when Mike Spadale got the Threshers first RBI of the game.
In the seventh the Reds picked up a run off of reliever Allen Davis to extend their lead to 4-1, but The Threshers were able to put together a rally in the eighth to get within one run at 4-3, but that was where things would remain at games end.
The team will face these same Reds on Friday and look to get some revenge.
Player highlited in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
