Phillies top prospect Cole Hamels held the Sarasota Reds in check as the Threshers offense got things going to crush the Reds on Tuesday night. In his second start of the year Cole Hamels looked as impressive as anyone could hope going 5.0 innings giving up just two hits and no runs with 9 Ks. His outing was certainly helped by an excellent outpouring of offense as the team put up 11 hits and scored four runs with an errorless defensive effort.
Avelino Asprillo had his best outing of the year going 3-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI, while Brad Harman added 2 RBIs in his 2-4 effort, and Matt Thayer posted two hits as well.
The Threshers improved their record to 4-2 an held on to second place to regain some momentum and keep the team's record at a franchise best pace. The Threshers will face these same Reds for one more outing before heading to Fort Myers to take on the divison leaders in a three game series.
