NICK EVANGELISTA - RHP

OBTAINED: 26th round selection in the June 2004 draft.
OTHER: Nick was one of the few bright spots for the Threshers pitching staff in 2005. He lead the team in several categories, but will start the 2006 campaign on the DL. After starting 2006 on the DL he appeared in 2 games for Clearwater before moving up to Reading where he had a 2.93 ERA in 43 innings of work.
After a slow start in Reading(7.36 ERA) in 2007 he was sent back to Clearwater to get back on track. Upset at being demoted Evangelista refused the reassignment and is currently holding out to be sent back to AA or higher. The team is currently refusing his request and refusing to cut him to allow him to sign with another team. He is under contract obligation with the Phillies for three more years, so unless the issue is resolved his career may be over.
