After breaking out with the bats for seventeen hits on Thursday night, the Threshers were held to just three runs on six hits on Friday. Zack Segovia got his first start as a Thresher in 2008 and threw 5.2 decent innings giving up three runs on seven hits with four Ks and no walks, but he could not get any run support as the Threshers were held to just three hits through the first five innings.
After falling behind 3-0 in the sixth inning the Threshers got on the board in the bottom of the frame when Quintin Berry led off the inning with a double, then stole third and scored on a sac fly from Matt Spencer.
The Hammerheads addeds runs in the seventh and eighth innings to up the score to 5-1, but the Threshers narrowed the gap in the bottom of the eighth to 5-3 after Tuffy Gosewisch was hit by a pitch to reach base, and then Quintin Berry crushed his first home run of the year to cut into the lead.
Unfortunately that was all the Threshers could muster and the team fell in the end.
Quintin Berry picked up the SCHMIDT LIST award for his HR, stolen base and 2 runs to provide all of the offense, but for his three innings of relief, and his excellent dancing with the Phllie Phanatic (pictures above) Brett Harker shared the SCHMIDT LIST player of the game award.
